The world’s longest running competition for developing employability and entrepreneurial skills is now in West Africa

The Universities Business Challenge is the premier simulation-based undergraduate business competition open to all faculties at universities and offers undergraduates the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the business world and their employability skills, meet potential employers, enhance their CV – have a lot of fun and win cash prizes! Now in its 19th year, the Universities Business Challenge started in the UK is going from strength to strength. In 2015 –16 1,550 students participated from over 76 university faculties.

What are the benefits to students?

The UBC embeds employability skills. Employers need graduates who are equipped with a range of core work skills. It is competencies such as the following that make students more employable:

How does it work?

Participating in teams of up to 5 members, students adopt the role of board directors in a series of realistic, simulated companies, making all the critical business decisions that affect the company’s performance. The Learning Dynamics simulations used in the UBC are world-class, varied and challenging, ranging from manufacturing to service businesses to ensure a rounded experience.

The UBC is not just for business studies students. It attracts participants across a wide range of faculties from UK universities as its role in helping develop employability and enterprise skills is recognised and valued by students and university administrators alike.

Who can participate?

The Challenge is open to all undergraduates enrolled in higher education, whatever their area of study.
Teams will consist of up to five students. So if your university is up for a challenge and you want your students to develop your employability and enterprise skills, apply today.
