Financial Freedom Friday by Iyamu Victor

It's no new news that Nigeria is in recession or that the economy is at its worst low, down from civil servants to the private sector workers to small scale business holders even entrepreneurs. Prices have skyrocketed and in reality the persons feeling the harsh cloudiness of the country are the students
Despite the cloudiness and mist we find ourselves in they are numerous opportunities we can key in to as students one of such is the *learn n earn* programme. This is an educational and economic  programme that facilitates and encourages business enterprise it empowers students to face the harsh travails of the Nigerian economy
In line with the University of Benin motto to impact kNOWLEDGE and also prepare students for SERVICE the WORK STUDY scheme was formulated. Other enterprise and individuals have keyed into this programme to build themselves and create teeming jobs and opportunities. The offices of the student's  union government have led the pace in students empowerment same with organisations such as Uniben Metro, House of Epitome, UnibenCritic et cetera
As individuals seeking self sustenance they are numerous activities we can engage in they include

Bar work has its obvious perks but is not ideal if you have lots of nine o’clock lectures. Bar jobs require very little experience

Call centres or card vendors often have flexible hours and offer good rates of pay.

Restaurant work has many of the same benefits and drawbacks of bar work. One major plus point of waiting tables is the tips. They vary greatly but can often take your pay from minimum wage upwards It’s also worth checking for work in your catering companies

Shop work is another good option. You can work on weekends so it won’t interfere with your lectures, and in lots of places you’re entitled to staff discount

Organising student events are also good earners. Get in touch with your union to find out what they’re offering

Working for the student union is full of perks. It’s very sociable and you can often get free entry to student events. Flyering for your University, or for shops, clubs and bars for that matter, is the perfect job for the lazy student. It’s easy, pays well, and you can control your own hours.

Signing up to agencies allows you to get work when you need to if you’re not too keen on the idea of a regular part time job. You can get work in offices, restaurants, at events, and more.

Going through the various key locations or bus stops in the school campus for example main gate, June 12, anatomy gate  we can see students keying in n being independent it's no doubt  that if we embrace this programme we are on the sure path n on the way to become academically n economically stable
