NPFL: MFM cut Plateau United’s lead, Enyimba lose group with away defeat

MFM FC

MFM FC took advantage of Plateau United's loss at matchday 27 to cut the lead at the top to just two points.

Lagos-based MFM FC are now two points off the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table following their 2-1 home win over ABS FC on Sunday, July 2.

Austine Ogunye opened goal for the Olukoya Boys in the first half before forward Sikiru Olatunbosun doubled the lead in the second half.

Wasiu Alalade netted a consolation for ABS FC in injury time.

With that win, MFM FC cut Plateau United’s five-point lead at the top of the table after the league leaders lost away at El Kanemi Warriors.

 

Sunday Anthony got a slight touch on a free kick from Chibuzor Okonkwo's free-kick to give Warriors a late goal in the matchday 27 fixtures.

Enyimba recent surge got a hit as they were beaten away at Akwa United 1-0.

Musa Newman got on a fine cross from Friday Ubong to score the only goal of the game in the 15th minute.

 

With that result, Akwa United go up to fourth place while Enyimba slumped to seventh.

FC IfeanyiUbah returned to winning way, beating Kastina United 2-0 in Nnewi.

Godwin Obaje scored from the penalty spot in the 21st-minute spot-kick and Chijioke Alakwe headed in the second five minutes from time.
