CJ Ujah ran an impressive time of 9.97 seconds to take home £40,000 which comes with winning the Diamond Trophy.

Nigerian-born British sprinter CJ Ujah beat world champion Justin Gatlin to win 100m title at the Diamond League in Switzerland.

Full named Chijindu Ujah, the sprinter was born in Enfield, London to Nigerian parents.

The 23-year-old ran an impressive time of 9.97 seconds to take home £40,000 which comes with winning the Diamond Trophy.

Gatlin finished fourth in a time of 10.04 behind Ivorian Ben Youssef Meite and American Ronnie Baker who came second and third respectively.

It was disappointing for Gatlin who ran 0.12 seconds slower than his winning time in London, where he beat Usain Bolt.

Ujah stopped Gatlin from becoming the oldest 100m champion in Diamond League history.

Thank you to everyone that has supported me this year!! The team behind the scenes,” Ujah wrote on his Twitter.

It’s been a good summer for him which also saw him win 4x 100m gold with his Great Britain team at the just concluded 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.
